An “executor” is the individual(s) or trust company named in the will to administer the estate. In the event of your death, they are the go-to person handling all the paperwork. They send death notifications, arrange for utilities to be paid, request financial benefits, and ensure all accounts in your name are closed. Even when someone dies with very few assets, settling the estate involves taking care of these administrative details. We reference executors frequently because much of the upfront work you’ll do in the Legacy Planner directly benefits the executor, making it easier and simpler for them to do their job. While we know that not everyone will pass with a will and an executor named, our team strongly encourages users to take this route.
Why am I seeing so many references to “executors” in the Legacy Planner?
